Jane Sabugueiro: Partner / Event Manager
Jane was born in St Lucia, West Indies to British expatriate parents. She was educated in the UK, but spent most of her childhood in Africa (Kenya, Somalia and Ethiopia) and Guyana in South America.
She lived in Hong Kong for eight years and in 2009 relocated to Dubai with her British husband where they live with their two boys.
Jane has many years of international event management experience working with the likes of Philips Electronics, HSBC, AON, Janus Capital and Goodman International. She worked for Laxton Marketing in Hong Kong from 2004 which was voted Top 10 for best ‘Sports Marketing Agency’ and ‘Event Marketing Agency’ in 2009 by ‘Marketing Hong Kong’ Magazine. Jane has a passion for sport and has managed The Singapore Corporate Rugby Sevens, The Professionals Sevens (HK), The International Rugby Tens (HK), The Soccer Sevens (HK) and various golf days and tournaments. Jane also has a certificate in Graphic Design issued from the SAE Institute Australia.
Victoria Hepworth: Partner / Event Manager
Victoria is from New Zealand and lives in Dubai with her British husband and two young daughters. She left New Zealand in 1996 and has since lived and worked in Japan, China, Russia, Sweden and India.
Victoria has worked closely with various Chambers of Commerce in China to plan and manage their fundraising events and business social functions. She was on the Board of Directors (Events Chair) for the Expatriate Professional Women’s Society, the largest professional network for businesswomen in the region. Victoria was the Founder and Executive Director of LifeLine Shanghai, a not for profit telephone hotline established to support the expatriate community. In Sweden, she established the Professional Women’s Group – a platform for social and business networking providing 5-3 events per month. Victoria has also worked on content for numerous websites and is also the co-author of the book ‘Expat Confessions; 50 Answers to Your Real-Life Questions About Living Abroad’ which was published in May 2011.
Mel D’Oliveira: Accounts Genius
Melanie is South African, born and bred in Johannesburg. After her studies, Mel explored the world working on International cruise liners before her enthusiasm for whipping up spreadsheets and her fondness for fiddling with figures encouraged her to settle down and join the corporate sector. She was part of the accounts team for a subsidiary of Irish Permanent Bank, followed by a managerial role in a Swedish company based in South Africa. Before moving to Dubai in 2015, Mel spent 5 years working at The Wedding Group™ – producers of the most prestigious and longest standing bridal show in Southern Africa hosting up to 750 premier exhibitors and close to 20 000 visitors per year
Mel describes her life as very simple, but admits to spending a lot of time on the details – her husband, her sassy teenage daughter, her energetic 9 year old son and her spreadsheets!
Blessed so far with a full life, Mel admits to aspiring to much more laughter, amid mouthfuls of chocolate, both in the office and in her home
David Spours: Graphic Designer
After leaving his hometown of Newcastle in the UK, David enjoyed a brief year-long stint in Sydney, Australia, before heading to Dubai, where he has been happily ensconced for the last nine years. Starting out providing technical support for tech giant Apple, David moved into the printing side of things as a studio manager, before joining some of the region’s most highly-regarded advertising agencies. These include GMASCO, Saatchi Saatchi and CRE8.
David then went on and founded Cucumber Design, and developed an impressive client portfolio, including EMAAR, African+Eastern, RTA, Etisalat, Jaguar, Landrover, Four Seasons Hotel, Al-Futtaim, Dragon Oil and The Address Hotels. David and Cucumber Design bring more than 20 years of design experience to the Corporate Affair team, enhancing the comprehensive services available to our clients.
Tracey Thompson: Public Relations Specialist
Tracey is British and has been in Dubai permanently since 2014 with her husband and daughter. With more than 15 years’ PR experience in the UK – both in-house and agency and in both the private and not- for-profit sectors – Tracey has been delivering bespoke freelance projects for Middle East clients since 2011, including The Priory, Hansard International and Middle East Touch.
Working closely with client teams, Tracey is passionate about delivering highly successful and targeted PR campaigns which secure good quality editorial content across a variety of media platforms. With the ability to craft a compelling story, backed up by strong relationships with a variety of journalists, Tracey can help you tell your story to target audiences in both a relevant and creative way.
Melissa Lear: Photographer
Melissa was born and raised in South Africa to a South African mum and a Dutch father. She is married and a mum to 3 quirky, fun-loving kids who keep her very busy.
Art was one of Melissa’s favourite subjects at school which opened up eyes to colour, lines, shape, form, texture and space. This interest, coupled with her mother and grandfathers passion for taking photos, inspired her love of photography and encouraged her to take it further. Her grandfather, born in 1910, grew up in the age of black and white photos and not only took his photos, but developed them too… and later hand-coloured his prized images.
Her sporty kids have turned Melissa’s focus to sports photography and this is one of her favourite areas to shoot. However, events, productions, leavers proms, portraits, animals and landscapes fill her portfolio too.
Clients include Whitehall Media, Ultimate Athletics, Touch Super 6s, Middle East Touch, Apollo Perelini Rugby Skills Academy, Dubai English Speaking College, Dubai English Speaking School and the Arabian Knights Rugby Football Club.
